The mission of the Pomperaug Youth Softball Organization is to provide the youth of Southbury and Middlebury the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of fastpitch softball in a fun environment. It is our goal to make sure every player has a good experience both on and off the field.
Pomperaug Youth Softball is a non-profit volunteer organization that is always looking for people to assist and provide ideas to improve the softball program. Meetings are typically the second Wednesday of every month, 7pm at the Park and Recreation Building. Everyone is welcome!
Fall registration is now open and will run through 8/29.You can register via mail or attend an open registration at Parks ‘n Rec on Saturday morning, 8/28 from 10 to 12.The fees and mailing address are at the top of the registration form.The registration form can also be downloaded from the Document Center on the right side of the screen.
For U6 and U8 we will have 3 sessions of clinics beginning the weekend of 9/11 and ending 9/26.The fee will be $30 per player, which will include a practice T-shirt and all 3 sessions.The clinics will focus on the fundamentals of throwing, hitting and catching.We may even bring out the sliding mats for the girls to have some fun with.
For U10 to U14 the season will begin the week after Labor Day weekend and end 10/24.The fee will be $65 per player, which will include a shirt and visor.There will not be any games during the week, but there may be practices.This will be up to the team coaches.The season will consist of 10 games, weather permitting.We will have 2 games on at least 4 of the weekends.
We will be holding try-outs for the 2011 Summer U12/U14 travel teams on 8/29 from 10 to 12 at Ballantine Park in Southbury.U12 is for ages 11 and 12 as of 1/1/11.U14 is for ages 13 and 14 as of 1/1/11.U10 travel team tryouts will be held in the spring.
We are accepting coaching applications for U10, U12 and U14 summer travel teams.The application form can be downloaded under the documents section of our website.The URL is provided at the top.
